Today: I am going to do more Christmas shopping, and finish cleaning my room.
Tomorow: My mom and dogs and I are driving down to her aunt and uncle's house for two days.
CHRISTMAS: We'll be at their house with the rest of our family opening gifts and just hanging out.
TRADITION: Me and my mom's aunt (about 53 years old) go see a movie around six o'clock every year on Christmas. Always a funny happy movie. Last year it was Cheaper by the Dozen 2. This year maybe Unacompied Minors (don't think I spelled that right). Late in the night, like at 10 or 11, people like my mom, her cousins, and such go see a movie. Usually an action adventure movie. Last year it was Munich. I bet you this year it'll be Blood Diamond. You?:

Today, I am going to sit on a.ss, play with my kids, finish wrapping the last presents, go get a gift card for my big bro, drop my hubbys ring I got him off at the jeweler to re-size it, feed my kids and hubby who seems to have grown roots in the recliner, clean up my house.
Tomorrow, I will start preperations for the dinner I will be cooking for the big day. make sure my house is really really clean, play with my kids, feed my kids and hubby whos roots have grown even deeper into the recliner, do some laundry, leave the kids with him while I go and play Santa to people that wont be coming the next day. Take the cookies I made to the neighbors as a thank you for running off the hoodlums that decided to use our street as a race track. Make my pies so I have one less thing to do the next day. Take the kiddos to go see Christmas lights.
Christmas, make sure my house is still clean and hubby and kids havent destroyed it. Get hubby to up-root so he can take out some trash and get dressed so he doesnt look like a bum. Move both cars into the garage to make room for all our guests cars. My mom and dad arrive (they live 118 mi away) and mom finishes helping me cook and set the table. Everyone arrives. We eat, open presents, take a big family portrait, eat some more. All the smokers gather out back while I make take-home plates for those that want it. Have a big hugs and kiss fest while everyone is leaving. Take a nap to eleviate some over eaten turkey. Then dream about the next year to do it all over. But first there some cleaning up to do of course...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The problem you have doesn't seem to be a problem with the inlaws... but with your husband... and unless you want to fight with him during the Holidays, you may just have to grin and bear it. It also seems as if you are a bit upset about the more expensive home they bought. They seem to have some money, so why not set them up at a really nice hotel, have a nice meal sent to their room and a bottle of bubbly... this way, you can still have your time with your family and the inlaws won't intrude. You could offer the hotel, etc as a gift to the inlaws... it's hard for someone to refuse a gift nicely. The only other option I see is to decide to have happy holidays, no matter what your inlaws do. If you let them get to you, you will suffer. And if you have a large family as you say you do, the inlaws won't be able to control much unless you give them that power. One thing you might want to remember is this: Christmas is a time for sharing... Are you gonna be Scrooge...???
