By participating in Drama, you get a chance to "walk in anothers shoes" and get other points of view. It helps in making decisions and basing how people will react to what you say or do. It helps others because it allows others to see another side of you that they don't normally see. When they see that, it encourages them to look at themselves as well.

In just about every drama I've performed in, there is a simple line or two that I have an extremely difficult time learning. I've found that very often the reason I have difficulty with a line is that it's touching on something in my soul.
For example, I was recently in show where one of my lines was simple: "Relax, everything will work out just fine." I couldn't get this one straight for weeks, so I finally sat down and visualized myself reciting the line in front of an imaginary audience. After I "said" the line, I heard the "audience" responding in knew-slapping, hysterical laughter and the response wasn't appropriate.
Once I "heard" the audience, due to extensive experience, I realized that I couldn't believe the line myself. In our family, a good vacation is defined as one in which nobody dies, and you come home in the same car.
For another example, in the last show I was in, a young lady was having a difficult time remembering a line in which she referred to an elderly woman as "an old bag." I suggested to her that she may be having difficulty with the line because she wouldn't want to call anyone an old bag in real life. She had the line perfectly the next time she tried, and never missed it again.

You can learn the most by sitting back & watching the drama. As soon as you feed the drama is when it seeps into your own life. I've learned that some people are just addicted to drama, They are bored, need attention mostly so they start stuff! Today I stay clear of drama so that I can live a more peaceful life! I hope that that helped.

In drama you will learn to "act" like someone else. You will have the characters point of view and background. You will start to understand how others think and how it is different from the way you think. Self discovery is a natural result of this process.

When I'm given a character to portray, I try to draw from life experiences (my own or others) and sometimes when doing that I discover different aspects about myself - how I feel about things that I may never have thought of before. Sometimes walking in someone else's (your character's) shoes can be very enlightening.

Well you learn your boundries of comfort, meaning as you have to sing, dance and act in front of a lot of people. And when you audtion you have to do the same thing but in front of judges, who aren't always nice.
And you learn about others because you see THIER boundries of comfort and how THEY do in front of all those people.
It's rather odd for beginners....

I used it to challenge myself. I learned how to redirect stage fright into my acting. I have found that this helped me in everyday situations when I get nervous. I can use the energy to accomplish other things.
