after all there would be no tit bars cause the women would be at home, no prostitutes on the street, no women at the office to have affairs with.

Unfortunately, this has always been a problem, even back in the day of June cleaver. It's just back then it was all "hush hush" and it wasn't spoken of. And usually the affairs were with the neighbors or people close by in the town. It's always exsisted. Only thing with today's world is now morals have slipped a little more and society has made it "ok" and "completely acceptable" to have no morals.

Hmm, that is an interesting theory, and there is probably no way to really know for sure. Some would say that the "June Cleaver" woman is the role that a woman should naturally take, and the husband naturally takes the working man role. I think that for some people, this arrangement works very well. But in today's society, women are rising to the top of corporate America almost as fast as men and won't even stay home to take care of their young children. And many of them like it that way. Is this best? Maybe not, but I really can't speak for every woman and her family. Also the cost of living has risen so much that it is not financially feasible for all women to stay home and be housewives. However, it is no question that there has been a decline in the overall family unit in this country over the last 60-70 years or so. I think it has to do with many factors, and my personal opinion is that the pushing out of God from this country is a big part of it.

You can't honestly think that. Prostitution was around long before June Cleaver. Affairs happen because that is what a person wants, not because women "work at the office" with men. I have worked with women all my life and have never had an affair.

There were still prostitutes on the street and ripper bars during the June Cleaver era, just not to the extent that we see today. It would be nice if things were a little more simple like back in those days but people still cheated on each other etc. But like everything else in life I truly believe that the world will go full circle and these norms and values will return someday and be in vogue once again.

I admit I crave the times when there were "June Cleavers" and oh how I wish I could be like her! I think the world would be a better place if women had never went to work, because there would still be somebody to take care of the children and be home to teach them right and wrong. But women have found their "rights" and while I don't necessarily need them, some women do...they like to have power...they like to be like men, and it really isn't my place to stop them. If a woman wants to work, so be it, it just sucks that because of THEM, I HAVE to work. It's too difficult to make it anymore with only one income (unless it's really good). And no matter what, there are ALWAYS going to be strippers and prostitutes...some women just don't have any morals...

FYI...it says directly in the Bible that women ARE the weaker sex, AND that it is our job to take care of the home & kids, while it is the husband's job to provide for his family.

That may be true. Women were much less aware of their rights, and divorce was much less accepted. Although, I have a feeling that although divorce rates might have stayed lower, cheating would still be at the same level.

And, I think that the number of people stuck in abusive relationships, the level of domestic violence, suicide rates, depression and many other negative effects would be raised as well b/c people would have felt that they had no options and no escapes.

On the side, I believe that divorce rates are high b/c of our obsession with instant gratification. No one wants to work at a relationship anymore. The first sign of trouble and out they go. A relationship is work... as is anything worth doing. I think high divorce rates have alot more to do with lazy people than with women working.

but then things would be really boring. what is the fun in that. i certainly wouldn't want a "June Cleaver" type world. women had really no say in what went on. personally i think that you want to stay home and clean and cook and take care of the kids while your husband is at work all day then you do that. me, i like to work and go to strip bars(with my man) and not being the only person having to cook and clean and raise the kids.

No I dont think there would be less of either. times have changed, men arent the same either. But as a man in his mid 40's and married for 25 yrs, A man wants just a bit of wildness in his wife and not all prim and proper. But who know what June was like behind the closed door. : - ))

Are you living in a cave? There were 'tit bars' back then, and prostitution, STD's and plenty of cheating. As long as there is human nature, there will be, too. It was just kept quiet back then, because it wasn't considered "fashionable".

Perhaps that's true but only if all men would have remained as Ward Cleaver. And that didn't happen either.
