Who is writing the paycheck to this lady? That person or entity is her employer and is responsible. I'm assuming this lady is an employee and not a contractor. You can tell if she is having social security and taxes deducted from her check, then she is an employee.

It doesn't matter how you are hurt on the job. The fact is is that the employer is supposed to carry workman's comp insurance.

If she is a contractor and is self-employed, then that's murkier. I don't know the answer to that one.

Was it your fault she got knocked off? If not, then the company that she was working for is responsible. She can sue them not you. The shingle company is not liable, they just sold the shingles. Your boss should get the insurance and workmans comp. THat is a dangerour business, what if you fell off the roof? How will you pay the med bills. ?

It depends on your status: Were you the owner of the truck? Was the accident caused by your negligence? If "No" to both of these and you were just another employee working alongside her, you probably have no liability. However, someone can sue anyone for anything. You would still have to get a lawyer to defend yourself if she does sue you.
