They would make it for entertainment, just like any other movies. Personally I don't really want to see it, but I bet many will. Happy Holidays.

I know its really stupid.
& releasing a horrow movie about Christmas on Christmas day?
First of all if the movie focuses on Christmas, not many people are gonna wanna see it because Christmas will be over 1 day after the movie was released. Who wants to see a christmas movie after Christmas? Depressing.
Second, whoever made that is twisted. Christmas is a time of happiness, peace, and love and you want to release a horror movie on Christmas day?
geez.

The name is stupid because why call it "Black Christmas" while Christmas should not be a day of horror but a day of joy. They should reserve that for halloween and call it "Brighten Halloween".It will be better.
Otherwise ,I will not go see it

my husband and i are actually planning on seeing this movie on christmas day before we go to my family's house for the party. the reason would be for entertainment purposes and the fact we like those kind of movies. but to each their own.

sheer entertainment... same reason they had the Omen come out on 6-6-06... to see how many ppl would go see that movie on that day... 'Black Xmas' is the same way... just more violent and gory

people like horror, they like stupid hollywood crap, this idea has been done soo many times before, the fact that the old guy who lived in the house ate his victems and made em into cookies is a little disturbing, but it just looks like pure hollywood crap, the sam old plot, the sam stupid scary images and jump scenes, and it just looks terible, but i would see it if my ticket was payed for, just to get a better idea of it, heck it might actually be good, but there's only one way to find out.
that's happened before with movies, like where you think "OMG that looks sooo stupid" and then you see it and you'rew like "OMG that was awsome!" it happened to me with the SAW series, I was like ok, he saws his foot off that's retarded, and now it's my favorite movie, 2 sucked, but 3 was awsome!
so to answer your question, I don't know why someone would see it.
