The ONLY difference is in the perspective of the person describing it. Magic is magic. It all comes from the same source. The same forces that are used to bless can be used to curse. I suppose the most simplistic definition would be that it all comes down to intent, but even that is not even close to being accurate. People spend far too much time niggling over black and white magic and not enough actually doing something. A colleague of mine once said, "The difference between black and whit magic is that black magic is anything that actually achieves a result, white magic is everything else." I like that description. Magic is. Use it. There is no black or white, those are aritficial distinctions created by people that have a need to feel morally superior to others.

Black Magic is which used for evil often with the intent of injuring or killing someone. It may also be done for the personal gain of the practitioner.
All forms of magic are evil, or black, magic. This view generally associates black magic with Satanism.

This is just for fun. You can play Black Magic at a house party. Select a person you can privately inform that you are going to use him/her as a medium. Tell the person that you will ask her to answer yes or know when you ask "Is it ......." e.g. is it a chair or is it a window etc., she /he should always answer no until you have asked is it a crow or anything that is black like charcoal, umbrella etc.,then that is an indication that the the next answer should be yes.
Now blindfold your medium and ask the audience to point at any person or thing so that thru black magic your medium will correctly say what it is that was pointed at. Go ahead have fun.

In my definition, black magic is any magic that draws it's power or energy from the most basic and primal human emotions. Black magic is very potent and can be used for positive or negative purposes. However, regular use of it can also be corrosive to the human psyche and it should only be used by those of the highest moral fiber and mental fortitude.

Black magic or dark magic is the study and or practice of magic that draws on malevolent powers. In the Inquisition, Christians were afraid of witches practicing evil black magic.

Black magic draws on malevolent evil powers. As opposed to White magic (or just magic) that draw on the powers of good (sometimes nature). These are in the context of "witches practicing ______ magic."

Black magic is magic which follows the left hand path. It is not meant for healing and ignores the rule of three (what you send out will return to you times three). Also, it usually involves demons or devils, depending on who is performing the ritual. It sometimes is meant to hurt people (unlike white magic), and it is a very selfish path. Please don't choose that path.

The black magic, is of the Lord of Darkness, darker than the shadows of the dark night. To call upon the dark magic is of evil, cause others to do against their will, killing, deception and the likes. To call upon the darkness is to truly bind your soul to this darkness.

For those who catagorize things by the Qabala, there are three kinds of magick, white, black, and grey.
White magick is all focused on contacting the God, learning things about the universe, and improving yourself.
Black magick is focused on satisfying yourself, using magick for your own purposes.
Grey magick tries to balance between the two.

Those who fear power in the hands of people tend to try to 'moralize' against being selfish...but if you're going to use magick it often is difficult to focus on things that don't have some relevance to your self......
