Insecurities and habit. My boyfriend has a lot more money than i do. When I got a dog from a breeder he asked how much i paid and than proudly said that his dog was more expensive. I love him but i am convinced that he acts that way because he was raised around people who obsessed about money and has other securities of his own- your boss is probably the same.

I hate that! I have a cousin and a sister that make 10 times more money than me and want my sympathy and say that they have no money. It pisses me off because they don't know how good they have it. I think the important thing is to just be thankful for what you have and remeber that there are others less fortunate than us. It sounds like your boss doesn't appretiate things as much as you do. Maybe you could say something back to her next time... example... At least I am able to buy jeans. Maybe your boss doesn't have family so she has to talk about money or something... hmmm.

Because she is just putting you down to try and make herself feel better. In society like in rap videos it is all about the cars and jewels and money so people think that if you have that you are better then everyone else. Which is so lame.

That's not true of all people. I'm sorry your boss is a jerk, but guess what -- there are poor jerks, too...and there are well-off people that aren't.
I've found that many people who act the way your boss does are very insecure -- they may have some money, but they're scared to death they're going to lose it. They make themselves feel better by putting other people down -- it makes them more secure to "prove" to themselves that they're better than you are (in their warped way).
Best to just ignore them.

She has a superiority complex brought on by low self esteem. Making others feels bad makes her feel better about herself. I certainly wouldn't tell her about any purchases I've made, after all, she's proven herself to be somewhat of a downer.

Not all people with money are like that, in fact most aren't...she's just a bi-otch (like Bytchi above) and probably a little jealous of you.
