PEMDAS = Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiply, Divide, Add, Subtract

(2^3 / -40 - 9.5) - 3.5 =
(8 / -40 - 9.5) - 3.5
(8 / -49.5) - 3.5
(-6.1875) - 3.5
-6.1875 - 3.5
Answer : -9.6875

First: I know you need to use PEMDAS. Determine what the letters stand for and do the math. You should try this problem-it won't hurt!

If you wanted to simplify before solving, double exponents(what I like to call them) can be multiplied before actually raising the base to a power. 2^3^2 can be written as 2^6, e.g., 64.

(2³/-40 - 9.5) - 3.5 =
(8 : -49.5) - 3.5 =

LCF(99, 10) = 990
(-160 - 3465) : 990 =

If you want PEMDAS, I think the answer is -13.2

i know what PEMDAS means.. please exuse my dear aunt sally. i cant solve that. i cant figure out -40- 9.5) -3.5
