With my son - I didn't feel most of the labor pains, the drugs they gave me (finally) worked wonders. I don't remember the pain from child birth itself - his being born wiped that clear out of my mind.
With my daughter - I felt all of the labor pains. They gave me the same drugs but a student administered it, as well as not doing it right, I had added pains from the bruises she caused. But after she was born - again I forgot all the pain that was labor and childbirth. The back still hurt some from the bruises, but it was not something I really thought about.
Before I ever got pregnant my period cramps were somewhat intolerable, they were in my thighs. At times I could barely walk. After my son was born though my cramps got worse and relocated. It was always like back labor every time. Now I'm pregnant for a 3rd time and don't know what my body will do to me this time, but it doesn't matter - because in the end, it's all worth it =)

I have a friend whom I posed that question to, and she told me this. I don't remember the pain during childbirth, when my daughter was born it was like I was in another world, people were operating, my husband crying, and everything for me was quiet. She did tell me that she had pain, but the special part is that it was not something she would remember, it was the moment that she remembered and not the pain.
If that helps you, I'm glad. Merry Christmas.

Depends on the person.
My Sisters in law all had horendous pains during their period, to the point they could not walk, their legs turned blue etc.
Two have given birth and didn't think it was that bad. Sure it hurt, but it wasn't something they couldn't handle.
On the plus side, the two that have gven birth, don't get bad cramps like they used to.

This would hardly be a reliable statement for every single women. Women who are endometriotic, or otherwise have very painful periods, often say birth isn't as painful as those who rarely cramp.
On the plus side, keep in mind that when you have your period your natural endorphin (your body's natural pain killer) levels drop dramatically, but when you give birth your endorphin levels rise dramatically.
good luck

Unfortunately it is true. I might even go closer to 1/1000 the pain. But women are amazingly strong creatures. We can and do handle it and when it's over the joy is something you'll never forget. The memory of the pain fades, the memory of the love never fades.

If it helps any, I had terrible period pains before I had my first child. I would have to stay in bed 2 or 3 days they were so rough.
Maybe your experience will be like mine, and after you have a baby your period cramps will die off and eventually go away. =)

never heard that one. had 2 kids and pain was managable for me...and I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. it felt more like pressure for me. i was in hard labor for 2 hours with the first, and by the time the baby comes, the memory of the pain seems to vanish.
