Or are just some. This is because I want to go to Florida and rent an Alamo. I don't know if it's a stick shift or not.

No they are not...

And most major rental car companies the entire or the VAST majority of the fleet are automatics. Better resale at the auctions and less chance of a customer saying they can't drive the car they rented because it is a stick.shift.

A true sports car is a two seater... some coupes come with a back seat they call an insurance back seat (uncomfortable to say the least) just to get the car into a cheaper insurance bracket. Now, think of all the two seaters you know of and see if all of them have sticks... I know the Chevy Corvette is a sports car and you have the option of stick or auto. Same goes for Mazda Miatas etc.

An answer you got spelled it out right when it comes to rentals... they opt for automatics simply because they are easier to rent and the car takes less of a beating from customers. I'm not saying you can't find a manual transmission rental car but I'd bet you would have to look far and wide.

I've rented from Alamo before... you can call the rental location directly and specify what you really want.

Good luck!
