Actually I prefer Rugby Football because it combines the best of both.

I prefer a more exciting body-contact game like American football but I don't like all the stop and start. I like the flow of soccer but I can't stand the whiny little wimps who roll around on the ground like they are dying when they get the slightest bump. If they did that on a rugby pitch or on an American football field they would get stomped on and then laughed at - and thats what they deserve.

Soccer could be a beautiful game if the players had more integrity. Football could be a better game if they sped it up a bit.

It's very similar to rugby with two major differences: 1. Instead of nearly continuous play (as in rugby or football/soccer) relatively long breaks are taken between advancements (positive or negative) of the ball on the field. Each of these movements in field position is called a "play". 2. The protective equipment that American footballers wear is really used as weaponry as much as armor. This causes (and allows) the game to be far more violent than rugby or football/soccer. The pace of American football is that of a series of sprints, rather than a long distance race. There are many other small differences regarding when you can throw or kick, but the game basically evolved from rugby.

If it is tackle football, I like soccer much better because it is less aggressive. If it is two-hand-touch football, I like that better than soccer. I like two-hand-touch football better because you can run around the field and goof off a little while waiting for the other team to be ready. :-)

Soccer. I never really was much of an NFL fan, and when I met my hubby he turned me onto soccer. It's better because it's more fast paced and requires a higher level of skill.
