Good Question Natalie! I believe that some of us do get too wrapped up in someone else.
We often forget our own lives.

I think that maybe we see these celeberties as people who are somehow different from us, so when they hit the scandal page its like OMG not him/her. But they are all people just like we are. They live, die, have cancer, AIDES, divorces and anything and everything else that happens to us 'common' people. The one major difference is that because of their fame/money their lives are over exposed which I am sure they hate even more than we do.

I don't like celebrities, but I tend to worry about my friends' problems which keeps me from focusing on mine. Good escape mechanism.

i think people use the act of focusing on others' lives as an escape mechanism from their own. they don't want to face and resolve their own problems and issues, so they live in this 'fantasy' world. either that, or they're just bored.

It's called living vicariously through someone else. While I may not see the need for it, some do take solace in knowing that they can.

absorbing yourself in celebrities lives is just sad and wrong (sad that they have no life) absorbing yourself in your loved ones (spouses) life is a wonderul thing. ^_^

Thats a really good questions, i guess people think they know themselves well enough that they don't have to care...Maybe we should stop asking questions about others and focus on ourselves for once...
