Your baby will eat when he is hungry. Just pump for 10 to 15 minutes every 3 hours, and if your baby is still hungry you could mix up a little bit of formula. My son only ate 2 ounce every three hours for the first 3 to 4 weeks.

Well if yo BF you don't really know for sure how much the baby is getting you have to look for signs like is the baby gainging weight? Is he having at least 8 wet diapers a day is he have at least 4-5 BM a day? And if you can answer yes to those your on the right track. I'm sure you have enough milk b/c your prob. engorged right now you body will learn how much milk to make with in the next few weeks and you'll fell less "full" but other wise theres not telling how much he should be eating or gettting just look for those tihngs and if your that unsure call your DR. he's oly 10 days old don't want to risk anything if you think there could be something wrong.

Do not worry about how much a breast fed baby is drinking. Just nurse your baby until he/she stops sucking, burp him/her, and offer the other breast. If you are pumping and then bottle feeding the breast milk, let your baby drink as much as he/she wants, but it will only be 1-4 ounces at his/her age. Breast milk is very easily digested and your baby will likely require feeding every 1-3 hours regardless if the breast milk is given to him/her via a bottle or from your breast.

The formula is 2 - 2.5 ounces per pound of body weight. So if baby is 7 lbs. she would need 14 - 17 ounces per 24 hour day. But I agree with the other writers, just put baby to breast whenever she cries and relax...this is one of the wonderful things about breastfeeding, you dont have to worry about measuring!

As much as the baby will drink. At 10 days that baby should be drinking it out of your breast and you shouldn't be worrying about amounts. As much and as often as it wants.

If you are bottle feeding the baby will probably only take and ounce or 2, maybe 3 at a time. And it will vary.

Don't worry, your baby will eat what it needs. They're amazing little creatures.

Good luck and Merry 1st Christmas to your little one!

Congratulation on your newborn!

If you're pumping than ~1 oz per I hr - up to 24 oz per day.

If you're breastfeeding your baby than let the baby be in the driver seat and determine how much to drink. If your baby looks content and happy, than don't make your life more stressful by trying to measure baby's milk consumption.

If your baby is not developing well (something for the pediatrician to determine), or if he/she doesn't look happy after of while breastfeeding (could be due to variety of reasons including too slow or fast let go) - than you should start counting ounces. I recommend to check kellymom.com web site that has comprehensive and competent answers to the breast feeding questions.

Best of luck!

Between 2 and 3 ounces every 3 hours if he/she is a big baby I would lean closer to 3 if he/she is a small baby I would lean closer to 2.

If you're breastfeeding than you don't need to measure. Just feed until your baby stops eating and feed whenever he/she is hungry.

As long as your baby is wetting enough diapers, you'll know that you are feeding the right amount. Breastfed babies also tend to go longer without pooping...but I know with my son, he pooped after every feeding.

The babies diaper changing pattern is the best indicator of whether or not he/she is eating enough.

That is the best thing about breastfeeding. Your body just naturally makes the perfect amount of food for your baby. You feed whenever your baby seems hungry and your body will produce whatever amount he or she needs!

you really can't measure it unless you are pumping the milk out I just spent about ten minutes on each breast.they usually fall asleep when they are full but later they may just use you as a pacifier
