Gillion and Barbie Q i guess have answered suitably. Just not only to safeguard the surgeons attention from the redcolour, but few people (mostly woman) even get mental shock and vertigo seeing blood. when blood fall on the green cloth it's colour changes out of red. This should be the reason.

Yes hospitals use green curtains always and should do it for the above cause. Soothing and other causes are different and not applicable here.

Green's used in the surgical setting to counteract the after image caused by looking at red.

Curtains? I don't think I've seen green hospital curtains.

How many hospitals have you been to? Your assumption is based on a lack of evidence.
Why are you asking about hospital curtains in alternative medicine? Why am I wasting my time with this?

who ever comes up with this must have read articles about how the colors around us affects our moods. Even before hospitals have this color codings, many books have been written about it, most especially in the early 80's. As you can see, the green color is the neutral color on the spectrum, in the middle, and at the other end, red,and violet.Green signifies growth , health and is refreshing. Most auras of doctors or other healers emanating from them is green.

Daylight is made up of seven wavelengths of light (violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red). A particular colour reflects a particular wavelength of light (to our eyes) and absorbs the rest of the wavelengths. The wavelength of green is of 550 nanometre (1 nm = one billionth of a metre) which is soothing to the eyes and helps in quick recovery. On the other hand, the colour red (which has a wavelength of 700 nm) is known to delay recovery.

the fabric the designer used was on sale. The budget for the hospital in used on equipment, not decore, so they do not want expensive material, or designer fabrics. They will buy midgrade because something cheap will rip and the better quality is expensive. In a word- COST.
