the warning comes on at low rpms and you can hear valve clater verifing it is true so I stopped driving it.

Have you recently changed oil and filter if so did your filter have a check valve in it essential on audis

These type of engines were renowned for premature wear to the oil pump which would cause low oil pressure and warn the driver so.
You could try buying and fitting replacement oil pump and strainer available from eurocarparts at a competative rate.
I would suggest that oil pressure is checked using the proper equipment first before tearing your engine to bits.

Audis are very sensitive to Mickey Mouse oil filters.
