Same gender marriage is not recognized at the federal level, nor are foreign-performed same-gender marriages recognized.

Massachusetts is the only state that permits gay marriage.
Vermont, Connecticut, and now New Jersey offer civil unions.
California offers domestic partnership.

Marriage to this point is restricted to MA. Civil Unions do not provide the full protections and rights afforded by a Marriage.
Marriage is NOT a "sacrament". A "Sacrament" is a religious recognition and NOT recognized by Federal and State Governments. A Marriage, in order to be fully recognized by federal and state government, has to be registered and licensed, all other ceremonies beyond the legal recognition(performed by authorized personnel and witnessed by 2 people) as required by law are superfluous and have no legal standing.

Massachusetts is the only state to legalize same sex marriage.
The states of Vermont and Connecticut do not have same sex marriage, but do have civil unions which have similar but not identical rights of marriage. New Jersey will become the third state to have civil unions effective February 19th, 2007.
California has a domestic partnership law that provides most (but not all) spousal benefits to unmarried couples. Hawaii, Maine, and the District of Columbia have laws that provide partial benefits to unmarried couples.

Massachusetts...
but to be married there you have to live there for at least one year and be a permanent resident.
Good Luck!
And PRAISE THE LORD... Arizona is the most recent to allow Civil and Holy Unions. New Jersey is well on their way! Just keep voting and we can make the difference!

Massachusetts, and possibly Vermont.

I am not completely sure about Vermont, it may just be a civil union type thing.

None- Marriage is a religious sacrament and is not reserved for the abomination of homosexual acts. If they want to start their own "partner" program, that's cool, but don't let them start to manipulate religious traditions so that they can feel "in" with society.
