I received the notification for winning the Yahoo Mail Monthly Promotioninc Lottery. Could you verify me wether this is a fraud?

Thanks & Best Regards,

These are always scams. Lotteries are always done in person in stores, bowling alley's, bars, etc.. If you are using an email program such as Microsoft Outlook, it should be dumping this into the junk folder. If you want to keep from seeing these types of messages, you can setup your email program to automattically permanently delete stuff like this. I get these all the time. I also immediately delete mail from people that I don't know or messages that contain anything involving money from people that I know that I haven't done business with. I keep a list of people that I do busines with, and if I get an email that isn't on that list, then I automattically assume that it is junk/spam/scam. If people want to do legitimate bussiness with you, then they will send mail to your physical mailbox. Sometimes these can be scams as well, so be careful. One way to see if a business is legit is to look it up at http://www.bsb.org. Also, financial instituitions will never ask you to reply to an email by emailing them passwords, social security numbers, account numbers, credit card numbers, etc. If you get emails that ask for this information, then immediately delete the message. These are also scams. Also be aware of fake websites that lure people into providing personal and/or finanicial information to the person on the other side of the website to commit identity theft and/or fraud. Internet Explorer has a built in phishing filter that can lessen the chance of you entering financial information into a fake web site to log on to bank or credit card website, or any website that allows you to pay bills online. This is just a few ways to protect yourself online. There are also other ways, but I don't want to end up writing a novel on the other ways, so I'll stop here.

You have to play to win. Did you enter the contest? If not you could not have won. Most likely just spam.
