Probably the best gift you can give your dad is to mend the argument with him. So give him something that shows you care, and have a talk with him and put things right. He won't be around forever.

I can't speak for Dad's everywhere, but I've got plenty of socks, ties, shirts, sweaters, shoes. It doesn't really make much sense.
If you're not really into his computer stuff, then stay away.
Do you know what I'd really appreciate? You know all those times that I'm expected to get a gift, but I don't remember and then I have to go out and buy some flowers or something else equally meaningless? Like your birthday? Buy me something that you really like but wouldn't normally buy for yourself. Then put the little heart in there, and a note to say the next time I think I might need a gift for someone who you love very much. Wrap it up, and then put it in another box and wrap it again. Perfect.

Best Buy or Circuit City gift card. Then he can get what he wants. How about apologizing to him, even if you know you're right? Maybe you could say something along the lines of, "Dad, I'm sorry that I hurt you." It wouldn't be admitting that he's right and you're wrong. It might help cool things down for Christmas.
Ooh-I like zomat4580's idea! Nice!

Buy an online gift certificate for a computer store. You can print out the gift certificate and never leave the house. He can then order what he wants and you both win. Just stick it in a card and you are all set.

You know what Amanda, forget the argument with him. My Dad became sick when I was fifteen and I really never knew him, not like I should. Even an argument with him, right this moment would please me---he died today, in 1992. Get him a box of his fave candy, or a box of stationary with a note in it from you telling him how much you love him, even though your angry with him. Angry or not, hard to buy for or not, I promise he'll love it. Happy Christmas!

Dear Amanda:
I used to go to a Department Store and select several pairs of beautiful socks for him; one in black, navy and brown. They were good ones, like cashmere, or whatever the good materials today are. He sure appreciated a new selection of good socks to wear. Hanes for men, possibly.
Sometimes, I would buy him a beautiful overhead sweater. I really loved picking out an article of clothing for him. Men look so good in V-neck or Crew neck sweaters.
My dad smoked a pipe. If that is true for yours, I would buy a beautiful new pipe for him and a pouch of one or two fragrant tobaccos. He used to go "nuts" for the exotic blends that Tobacconist Shops offer.
The message is, Peace on Earth and Goodwill toward all. . .
Best regards, Lana
OOPS! P.S.
I bought a number of beautiful pen knives for my dad, also. Select one with a beautiful real wood handle. Men like to have those in their pockets.

does he like computer games? maybe you could get him something like a computer game or some kind of software and wrap it in an ugly tie! that is always funny! my daddy doesnt wear tie or suits (he is a man in uniform, Army uniform) so it was funny when he opened the box and found a really tacky tie! But he was happy when he got the game that it was wrapped around!
