There was a guy falling from the clouds. He passed another guy who was traveling up. The falling guy shouted " Hey, do you know anything about paraschutes?" The guy going up says " No, do you know anything about gas heaters?"

The moral of the story? Get a professional to work your heater.

The problem seems to be the fan that blows the heated air is not turning around. I had the same problem once and i found a tiny hole on top of the motor that read "add oil here". I took the blower out of the squirrel cage and vacuumed it well and added a few drops of 3 in one oil into the oil hole until the fan would turn easily. It worked for about three years with annual cleanings and oiling. After 25 years it stopped and refused any kind of treatment. I checked the yellow pages for "electric motors rewinding and repair". The motor could not be repaired because it could not be taken apart. Rivets held it together instead of bolts with washers and nuts. I had to replace the entire furnace. But it worked for many years so it was time to discard it with a replacement. Good Luck, Merry Christmas.................................

More details would help but it sound like the fan switch or the high limit switch or the blower motor are the problem. Most high limit switches need to be reset manually. Get a multi-meter and check the switches and the motor. If you don't know how, call the man.

This is not an answer to your question, maybe with some more info on the heater someone may be able to help you. Is it a space heater, wall heater, Hot air furnace etc. Is it a direct vent heater or is a conventional type vent. like on a chimney or its own vent up through the roof.

nice dave.. i like it. Doh! if it was the high limit it wouldnt get any gas.. so you can scratch that out. 1st i would switch my t-stat from auto to on (fan) and see if it kicks on. multi tester to read 110. take bottom door off.. there is a door switch that needs to be held in when you do these test. make sure its "calling for heat.. when you take the bottom door off it will kill power to the furnace... push the door switch in and test for power... black lead of the tester to a white wire (common) on the circuit board. you can read on the circuit board.. many say common. also on the board you should see 3 wires in a row ...BLK, RED, BLU these are fan speeds. or they might be labled A/C Heat or high med and low. now with the black test probe on white wire put the red probe on the red wire and push the door switch in.. should see about 120volts.. if you do my guess would be motor. thats about all i would do if you aint handy.. only other would be to take the motor out and power it from an outlet. (yeah right like nobody else has done it) it can also be the circuit board.. if its not reading 120 at the red wire.. you can also test the blue and black wire.. if they are calling 120 and the red isnt.. temp fix can be to switch... its just fan speed black is high. then again you should be able to find a service guy that has everything on his truck to fix it.. and not be stuck for a sunday call.. sure they can get the parts.. but the parts store charges to come open for them (about 50+) if its motor.. about 170.00 to fix.. circuit board about the same

There is a fan switch inside that has contacts that close after the burner kicks on. These contacts supply power to the blower motor. It sounds like the fan switch is bad.

It sounds like your fan relay is bad. make sure you have power going to it. Make sure your fan is ok and will move freely. (TURN POWER OFF FIRST)
