The Lexmark Z25 printer was working alright. All of sudden, when the printer is switched on, the cartridges holders (both black & white and colour) just come out an inch and go back inside and this movement is continuous. During this movement only the colour acrtridge is visible and the other is not visible. When the hoplders are pulled along the guide bar manually they come upto the end but do not start when switched on. Upon pushing both the cartridges go in and again the short movements as explained above start and the printer is unusable

Most likely you have a bad motor controller. Cost on getting this fixed is about $100+. Inkjet printers are pretty much disposable.

We just threw our Lexmark Z25 out for the same reason. Unplug it, then plug it back in after a long waiting time, maybe it will work then, ours did, for awhile.
