go to start, click control panel, and printers and faxes. (or start and select printers and faxes, depends on what operating system your using) go to the printer icon and right click and select properties. Look for spool before printing and check that off and that should fix the problem.

What kind of printer? It could be something in the registry that is keeping the print spooler from working. There are many possible causes for this, so trying to give you an answer is a "shot in the dark." I'm going to suggest that you clean the registry first, by using Microsoft's cleanup scan, and if that doesn't work, you may have to reinstall the printer.

Check the device manager and see if the printer is disabled. Enable it, and it will work.
