I just wanted to say wow-what a great response--great names!

I know a woman named Dale. I think place names are fine for boys--but don't use Dakota for a unisex name, because Dakota Fanning is a girl and therefore people WILL associate that name with her and being a girls name.

I don't think anyone suggested the name Ashley I went to school with a guy named Ashley.

Manar is a unique name that could go either way.

Well, people tell me mine is! Rob. It's actually short for Robin in my cse, but can be short for Robert or can be just plain old Rob.
The famous Saturday Night Live unisex name is Pat. There's also Billie, Jay (with many spelling variations), Lynn, Dani, and Sam. When you mention place names like Dakota and Dallas, you realize that most place names can go either way, because they were never really intended as a person's name. So, you might just choose a totally unique place name that no one has used as a name before. Good luck.

My nickname is Mandy and strange enough, I have seen a man named Mandy. (That TV show Criminal Minds) Im not suggesting that though. My son's name is Jayden. When we picked it, it said that name could be unisex. I really like the name Dakota, it sounds very intriguing.

Terry.

Eventually, unisex names shift to the female. Decades ago Hillary was a unisex name. So was Kim (until recently). Now, they are given exclusively to girls.

Good luck. I hope things work out for you and your family. My favorite is Shayne for a unisex name. It sounds so masculine for a boy and so sexy for a girl.
