Lary the cable guy says that if you can blame guns for killing people they he can blame his pencil for mis-spelled words. Do you agree or dissagree?

I like the one about the knife. What if we replaced GUN with KNIFE? Do knives kill people? Should we have more laws governing knives? Should you have to get a permit and special training to purchase a knife?

For a gun to kill someone, the trigger has to be pulled. I have a pistol (loaded) lying in a dresser drawer and it has been there for many years. If it remains there for another hundred years it will never hurt a living thing. Only if I pick it up and shoot it at someone can it kill. In that case, I would be doing the killing and using the gun to do it. So I agree with Larrry the cable guy.
Consider: Cars, A pair of skis, mountains, piano wire, kitchen or pocket knives, hammers and hatchets in the same group. They all have the potential for killing people but alone, just being what they are, they do not.

Guns like cars, baseball bats and knifes are tools which can kill if in the hands of people. That is why when a person kills with a gun the person is put on trial.
Anything can kill, just as most things can help or save lives. Depends on the use of it or the one using it.

Our guns just sit where we put them, they never get up. They never fire, they do not do a whole lot but just sit there where we put them.
So no guns do not kill people, they do not do a whole lot but sit there until we need them. Mr. loves to take them and polish them and do his thing. I forget there even here lol!
Ignorance is bliss and those that say guns kill have no clue as to what they are saying. These are the people who do not take responsibility for themselves or family either. People made guns to kill, people make knifes to kill, people can even kill with that pencil you are talking about.
So the saying "Guns do not kill, people kill" is logical.
If our guns ever get up and start killing people I will be the first one to get on the band wagon to outlaw all of them....if that is we are still alive (for our guns our tucked away so the children do not get a hold of them) our guns would "see" (I guess the guns can see out of the site, or the scope on a couple of them?) myself and Mr. first....

I'm no crazy redneck don't even own a gun but the answer is simple no. Guns are dangerous and accidents Can occur just like propane harsh chemicals or power tools like circular saws.
Any dangerous object can be used as a weapon to kill if a person as the intent to kill he could really use anything don't you Think? Guns may make it easier they are very accident prone so irresponsible gun owners or someone who doesn't childproof his house like leaving knives by the toaster or hairdryer near the bathtub is definitely at fault. But The intent to kill can be used with a variety of different homemade objects that's my view and that's what logic tells me.

guns kill people because if you stood there and said bang not much could go wron
people kill people because they are the ones pulling the trigger and making the concious decision to do so

Well, guns facilitate killing people unlike any other weapon. They make it easy, fast, and able to be done from a distance. Unlike a knife, where you are not only going to have to be very near someone but also going to have to fight, guns allow you to kill from far away. I think that's what makes guns different. If you look in different regions (say US v. Europe), in the US the murder rate is astronomical and almost all are caused by guns, whereas in Europe they do have a problem with knife violence, there murder rate is tiny compared to ours (see the source). Guns also are responsible for a high number of accidental deaths (guns killing people, especially children), where other weapons don't have the same risk (second source).

Guns don't kill people I agree..
People USE guns to kill people, if you can't get a gun then use anything next to you..It's possible to kill some one with a pencil..
But it's the people who kill, not inanimate objects..

no..its people that kill people ..more people are killed by cars in this country than any other thing..in virgina. they started to enforce the exile program..its a federal law on gun control ..if you were caught with a gun that you cant own..you went to fed prison for five years..after that shootings drop and stabbing went up..people kill people..not guns or cars..its the person..
