My best friend is in town from Minnesota (she's going to school there). This is her first winter in a very cold climate; she's moved to Minnesota from south Texas. What should I get her for Christmas? I'm looking for something very inexpensive; I'm very tight with money and she understands why. I want it to be something that shows I care. It needs to be small enough to take back with her on a plane and something that would get through security at the airport without any problems. Help!

She's recently stocked up on winter clothing so she doesn't need sweaters. Besides, the clothing sold in south Texas isn't appropriately made to handle winters in the North. So, no apparel of any kind (no sweaters, gloves, scarves).

If you want to make it personal make a tie blanket. You could give her hot chocolate. Or you could give her a scarf and matching gloves

They make these booties which go over your socks but inside of your boot. They keep your feet warm and dry. I am from south Texas (around Corpus) and I live in Dallas where it gets cold. I find these help alot

I moved from Alabama To Utah in the winter.. its a BIG difference.. but get her like some earrings.. or maybe a bracelet. Get her something that would be meaningful with your relationship.

get her a small ceramic space heater; purchase it at a big store, and tell them she will pick it up at a store close to her in Minnesota. She's in for some great weather; tell her to enjoy herself outside and she won't mind the cold!
we manage up here in the frigid North to keep ourselves warm and cozy and to LOVE our snuggly homes.
anything that makes home comfy and if you buy it for her there she can pick it up wherever you stipulate. have a great holiday

How about those little heat packs that you "crack" and they heat up? You can put them in pockets, in mittens, in slots on socks made for them. They are cheap. I used to buy my husband dozens of them as stocking stuffers when he worked nights as a security guard.
