Although I live in the computer/technology age - there are so many things I have yet to learn - if you asked me what kind of computer I had - I've have to go to the book and tell you but I never turn my computer off - so that might be a start. When I get up in the morning - I go straight to my computer room, hit any black key on the keyboard and "voila!" the screen lights up and my name his highlighted as user. I press user and I'm in.....ready to work!

You probably want to coniser looking at your documentation (available online too) about HIBERNATE rather than turning itself off and on. HIBERNATE is a very low power state where everything essentially goes to sleep, but the Operating System is still loaded and everything is READY to run when you need it. It starts up in SECONDS rather than minutes.

There is another mode, STANDBY, which also might be your goal. It is less asleep, and therefore consumes more power.

BOTH of these states are supported by ALL modern desktops and by Windows XP.

(Drastic would be the BIOS turning PC on and OFF at a prescribed timeframe, but some motherboard do have that feature)

i need more info than that, but check the BIOS for a boot time.. (press del on boot or F10..) it should say. My Asus board does it. You can use another computer to boot it up, but you need to know what your doing..

why do u want to do this anyway?
