I DONT view porn/adult sites on the internet, nor does anyone from my family. However, I sometimes get from friends/relations, some pictures of family members (no sexual content), nature, e greetings, etc.
Now I find that I suddenly get warning pop ups which say that there is a security danger as I have visited some adult/porn sites, etc. and offers free scan. This free scan is mostly from 'Ultimate Defender', and lists a large no. of dangerous items affecting my computer. Of course they ask for a fee to download their scan program.
This sudden pop up creates serious misunderstandings within the family as we all use only one computer that runs on XP.
I scan my computer daily twice with Windows Defender, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Ad-aware SE. I remove any objectionable spyware/malware/trojan etc. they recommend.
Is there anyway I can get rid of this notice from Ultimate Defender? Is their scan/notice genuine?
Only genuine experts reply, please. Thanks.

YES ,THERE ARE TWO WAYS

BUY NORTON INERNET SECURITY 2007

FROM SYMANTEC CORPORATION

OR
GET AVG FREE
AVG ANTI-VIRUS 7.5

http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1
IT IS CURRENTLY THE BEST PROGRAM

ALSO ,YOU MAY WANT AOL VIRUS SHIELD

http://daol.aol.com/safetycenter/virus

THIS PROGRAM THAT YOU MENTION APPEARS TO BE ADWARE

SO ,ALSO GET AVG ANTI-SPYWARE
WITH AVG ANTI-VIRUS

IT MAY HAVE SPREAD AS AN E-MAIL
ATTACHMENT OR AS THE ABOVE PEOPLE SAY ,COULD JUST BE A POP-UP

IF USING ALL THESE PROGRAMS DOES NOT HELP
GET A NEW BROWSER
EITHER FIREFOX2
http://en-US.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/help/

OR OPERA OR NETSCAPE

http://www.opera.com/download/

http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/

THESE ARE MORE SECURE

IN IE ,IF ALL ELSE FAILS
CONTROL PANEL
INTERNET OPTIONS
ADVANCED
RESET ALL
DO THIS WHILE OFFLINE
IE IS RESTORED TO ITS FIRST STATE
....WHEN IT WAS FIRST INSTALLED

DO THIS ONLY AFTER GETTING AVG AND RUNNING
A SCAN

I would go to tools, then to internet options and delete all temp files, cookies, browsing history, etc. Then go to add/remove software and see if that is an installed program..if so then remove it. If not try typing Ultimate Defender into your search function on XP you'll see it in your start-up menu. If it shows up there then delete all files containing it and empy recycle bin. Finally, run all your scans again...try also "House Call" by trend micros...you can google search for the address and that program is free and removes 99.99% in my experience. Good Luck

1. You have 2 anti-viruses installed. Uninstall Norton. Keep Mcafee. 2. Get rid of adaware doctor and spyware killer. 3. Download and run Ad-aware and Spybot Search and Destroy 4. Once you have gotten rid of the malware. Do the scans regularly. Good luck.

It's likely that either those pop-ups are coming from particular sites and are just advertisements for protection software or someone has installed a program that is contributing to generating those pop-ups. You might check your Control-Panel, Add/Remove Programs for unnecessary programs and remove them.

For security, I recommend the following products (Windows XP-based):

Assuming you're running Windows XP:

ClamWin antivirus:
http://www.clamwin.com/
Windows version: http://superb-west.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/clamwin/clamwin-0.88.5-setup.exe

Windows Firewall:
click on Start-Settings-Control Panel, double-click on Windows Firewall and turn it on.

Antispyware:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx has done a great job on my Windows machine.

It's just a scam pop-up.
Everyone gets them (even the Pope).
It means nothing.
Ignore it and explain the facts to your family (shame that they doubt you in the first place).
