You say you talk to each other quite often, then drop subtle hints that you're into him like you think he's looking great today with what he's wearing or try asking him to lunch or dinner. If you're really comfortable with each other, then it's time to tell him straightforward that you like him! Good luck!

Be very careful about this, especially since you are both in high school. The best thing you can do is start talking to him, be open and be honest,...but don't pressure him. He may not be ready for a relationship. Just take it slow, and whatever you do, DON'T out him,...it is not your place and you may lose him forever as your friend.
[P.S. There are many straight 17-year-olds who are not ready for a relatioship either, so don't' take it personally if he doesn't want to "go there" right now.]
I don't know how large the town is that you live in. If you are both in the city, it will be easier for you to be discrete. If you are in a small town, be very careful. I would not want either of you to get hurt emotionally or physically. I live in a small community, and we recently had two teenage boys beaten up very badly by some older guys who "presumed" they were gay. It was horrible, and one boy and his family have since moved.
I am not telling you this to scare you...just be careful. You are both young, and there are many cruel, uneducated, homophobic people out there.
Best wishes and good luck to you both.

If he is openly gay, then that is half the battle right there. If not, then it may be a little awkward if he is not ready to reveal that to others. But either way, if you are attracted to him, then I say go for it--maybe casually ask him to go out somewhere (instead of just seeing him at school) and then after a while ask him if he'd be interested in a date. It's better to know than to let him pass you by!! Good luck!!:)

Talk to him first. Get to know him. He may/may not feel the same way for you. If this is high school though I would be more careful about broaching the subject. If you like this guy, do not put him, or yourself for that matter, into a position that may cause either of you pain or embarassment. He may not be ready to come-out and it is not your place to do it for him. If he is though, tap that quick!!!! :)

Become better friends with him where you start talking together about things you would only tell a good friend. Tell him about yourself and see how he reacts
