I have always seen things as black or white, awful or wonderful, I either love or I hate. If you swat me with a flyswatter ill crush you with a sledge hammer.Extreme is my middle name.Would you call that an unbalanced person? or a person who is overly passionate about everything?

Unbalanced, yes...you have a forward and reverse gear but you need a neutral. You sound like my son, "all or nothing Joe". If someone call's you "stupid" and you come back with %$^& you!, You $%^&@ !$##@. Thats overkill and you come across actually sounding and looking "stupid". I think the "balance" you are looking for is called "maturity". Try to put all things in perspective, adopt some tollerance, for that neutral gear. Coasting a bicylce is much more pleasurable than cranking on the pedals or slamming on the breaks, but all three make for a complete experience.

I would call that... who you are. The world is made up of all kinds of different people and personalities. It's a good thing.
The environment in which we were raised has much to do with who we are today along with what has been genetically passed down to us from past generations.
If you are unhappy with this part of your personality just know that the more of life you experience and the longer you are here on earth you will more than likely discover that in order to live more comfortably there has to be a lot of gray between the black and white.
Perhaps you won't always be dogmatic, extreme and passionate. Then again, maybe you will. It's basically up to you and whether or not you are okay with this aspect of your personality.

There's nothing wrong with having a clear line between what you accept and what you don't, black and white. In fact, it is very desirable. Your response may be another thing- it should be appropriate to the situation and may often be unnecessary at all. Not having the ability to handle your reactions says that other people's opinions can push your internal buttons. That can only happen because you allow it, and those over-reactions are your problem. You may be less "your own person" than you think you are.

I'd say you sound very opinionated, which is not a bad thing, unless you never change your mind.
No one is ever right one hundred percent of the time, and listening to opposing opinions is a learning experience.

The fact that you are questioning this means that you want to change and the best way to change and find the middle ground is to listen to people, truly listen, and repsect other's opinions.

Remember, no one ever wins an argument!

You are slightly un balanced. But the very fact you know it and you are asking for help shows you are also well motivated. If you practise you will find the middle point. It is in your mind. If you keen to achieve anything you will get it.
