There are many reasons why your girlfriend may have said this, and you'll probably just have to wait and see what it is she really means - time will tell.
One thing to consider, this is something I've said to a few people, as a sort of test. It isn't a concious thing, just a subconcious way of pushing people away to see if they come back. If you think that it may be something like this, then I would try and stay in contact. Don't harass her - just sending her a text first thing inthe morning and last thing and night saying that you are thinking of her or something similar.
A hobby may be a good idea - its always best to have other things in your life that you enjoy other than your partner - you are your own person remember, so you need to be able to make yourself happy :)
The timing does seem bad, is Christmas a bad time for your Girlfriend? Some of us prefer to spend the holidays alone as they are painful times for us. Does she suffer with depression? Has she lost anyone close to her this year?
Try and stay positive, and I hope things work out well for you both.

Well, obviously Christmas is not the ideal time to take a break from each other; but is there ever?
Yes, she does have some Strongs doubts about the relationship, and she is warning you that it might come to an end.
At least she is trying to be honest with you.
It's not something easy to do.
This shouldn't put you off women for good. Before finding the true one, we sometimes break many hearts and have ours broken too a couple of times.
Good luck.x

You need to be direct. If she wants thinking time... ask her why. If she says it's because of some other dude... then she wasn't the kind of girl you wanted to be with anyways. If she feels unsure... ask her what would help... then do the thing that would help... (i.e. stop picking your nose, or take her out more often, or be honest with how you feel about her.... etc.) If she's not worth it... then find a hobby.
But girls are always worth it. Men have battled, fought, and been killed for women all throughout history... there is a reason for that.

Dumping anyone two day's before Christmas is cruel as hell but it happens. That is the ruthless side of women and all because they're sitting on the world we want. To be perfectly honest, I don't know a single man that would crush in the skull of a woman's heart two day's before Christmas but can't wait until the holiday is over to do just so. As far as starting a hobbie, that's up to you but remember this word of wisdom from a man with a past (PAST) 4 black phone books worth... The first thing we do in life is crawl out of that thing and then spend the rest of our life's trying to get back into it. My advise, just wait it out, after asking her what she's trying to tell you and enjoy your Christmas with family and friends that want to share this holiday with you. Good luck and happy Holidays..:)

Sorry to say but maybe, but on the otherhand she may just need time to think about wot she wants. Maybeshe's had bad experiences in the past this time of year and she doesn't want you to dump her so she has got there first. Women are hard to understand sometimes. Don't give up though, if you love her get her back, if that fails move on and when she see's what she is missing she will want you back!!

well, in most relationships when someone say they need time to think, or a break that means it is over.sorry. but getting a hobby and forgetting girls? why not break it off with this girl and sure get a hobby, but one that your going to meet people.like ice skating or roller blading. anything that there will be people around. open the door for your self because know one is going to open it for you. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Well, it's not a good sign for a LTR and it probably means you'd better be prepared to give her a LOT of time to think or do whatever. BTW, you need a hobby in any case.

99% of the time, that's just a nice (or cowardly) way to tell you that she's breaking up with you. Take the hint. The worst thing you could do is act all pathetic and clingy. The best thing would be to SMILE, and say "OK, that's cool. Let me know what you decide. In the meantime we're each free to date other people."

She just needs some extra time to take a bubble bath, do her hair and nails, clean her room, re -arrange her clothes, spend some time with her buds, she's probably a real "neat freak" give her some time, all she needs. Wait for her if you want...
