I actually have, more than a few times. I have had times when people just brushed on by, and I just said like a silent prayer for them. I've had other times when a person seemed so grateful I noticed and they completely broken down and spilled out a horrible story of the pressure they were under at that moment. I know it helped the few who I connected with, so it was worth it for the ones who didn't want to be bothered. Sometimes, no matter how crowded and busy the world seems, there are actually people who do not have the human connection they need.

It's not hard to do. Courage is a virtue that must be earned by facing inner fears.
Besides if it was you crying would you not want a complete stranger to ask of your problems. It always helps to talk about them and someone you don't know and will probably never see again is the perfect choice if it is something you are ashamed of.
For this fact taking 10 minutes out of my day is no real drama for me to help someone in need of a shoulder to rest those crying eyes.
Happy Holidays.

If such person is known to me, I will stop and ask. But, with a stranger, I don't take any risk.

If they make eye contact then maybe they need you to ask if they're okay, but other than that, we can't really chose where we are when we are struck with grief.

I guess you just trust that she had a good reason. Otherwise, she probably would have held it in until she got home.

No, I don't ask because I don't like to pry, I give people space because I would want space if I were like that. :)
