Yes, I believe it is essential to have "domestic goddesses" in today's world. Being a "homemaker myself, I feel that it is important that my children get the full benefit of "myself" as well as my husband. With so much uncertainty in the world, I deem it necessary for me to be here when my small children need me the most. They grow up and change so quickly and these moments you will never get back. I have had a professional career, but after I had my first child, I believe that they are my prime focus for now. I give credit to working mothers and their roles as mothers also, but as for me and my house, I will continue to be an at-home-mom as long as I can.....with God's help.

In the 50's it was said that in 20 years women will no longer cook, it will all be instant. Although women are working and cooking quick easy meals due to their hectic schedule, there will always be household chores that need to be done, so yes there will be homemakers, but not in the true sense of the word, they will be homemakers that also work outside the house. There is the phrase a woman's work is never done, and it is true. I am still hoping for a "Rosie" like on the Jetson's to be invented, then this working woman will no longer be a homemaker too.

No. Homemaking is a tough job - and there will always be a need for someone to do it. Housewives will also not dissappear. Women who chose to be housewives should not be looked down on in any way. Though it is true - more women are chosing to not be housewives in lieu of careers, there are more house husbands now. So, there will always be homemakers and there will also be housespouses.

Someone has to do the job of cleaning ,cooking, shopping and taking care of the children. Who will that be? Time will tell. Its an unpaid endless job, many women hate it, many women go to work and buy whatever they can (food, someone to clean their home etc) to make this burden easier. Men do not want this job and its obvious why. So, either this will become a paid job so that both partners can chose who will stay home and get paid and who will go out and work, or some other solutions will be found to make life better easier and more satisfying for all those who chose to marry and bring children. Don't forget that about 20% of all couples prefer not to have children because of the work involved. So go figure what the future has in stock for us.

The chores will never go away. What is changing is that the spouse who stays at home isn't necessarily the wife. Also, many companies are moving towards a work/life balance and, with the advent of VPN networking, many people now work from home rather than come to the office from 9-6 every day. So, they can mix working and taking care of the house all day long.

In Australia there are many stay at home Dad's...
Some men either don't work and stay at home with the children or work from home, or the other case has been some women were the higher income earner and the husband decided to stay at home and take care of the children.
So.. in the future there will be both stay at home mothers and fathers.

well women are kind of shaking it off (hopefully) so maybe well be seeing a rise in male homemakers. i do think that eventually it will even out. but there will definately be less stay at home mums/dads because everyone wants a career now which is fair enough.

Well as you can see, society is already on tha path. I do believe that, but I still think there will always be those traditionalists. I'm one of them, but I still will want to work.

No but I think you may see more househusbands as men realize the importance of raising children and bonding with them in their formative years.

Yes. They will be replaced by robots for the menial work. If not robots, immigrant labor will deal with the day to day grind.
