I have often wondered what it would be like to attend a Catholic mass at Christmas. I'm sure it would be a good experience. I substituted once at a Catholic school and enjoyed that. I have, however, watched the midnight mass broadcasts from the Vatican during Christmas Eve and enjoyed them for several years. I wouldn't want to go to an actual mass though unless I had a friend who attended and could take me and explain what I should expect and do.

No.

I was raised a Catholic and attended a Catholic school for 12 years.

I do believe that the Catholic mass is a beautiful ritual, especially at holidays, but I no longer attend mass.

I became disillusioned with the Catholic Church years ago, and have tried on occasions to go back, but I simply cannot justify the hypocrisy of the church.
It is my opinion that organized religions are not good for women, as women are always held in lower esteem than men.
God created us all equal, after all, and even Jesus said once we die we are no longer woman or man.

I also visited the Vatican a few years back, and as with Salt Lake City, Utah and the Mormon Temple, I was appalled at the wealth of the church.
I thought Jesus's main message was to care for the poor among us, yet the Catholic Church is in possession of such wealth, shouldn't they be giving the worldly possessions away to help the poor?

That's just my opinion.

If you choose to go to mass, it's a good thing, especially if you have a priest who sermonizes about love and forgiveness!

Merry Christmas!

The modern Roman-Catholic church isn't as strict as "catholic schools" were made out to be. You can go to reconciliation (nicer name we use now for "confession" in case you didn't know) the modern church is also much more accepting of people who come from different walks of life (at least my church is) and nobody will judge you, mostly because nobody else has to know. the church currently focuses on letting all of us know that we are forgiven as long as we come face to face with what we've done wrong. Jesus loves us and as long as we know that and are truly sorry for what we have done, he always will!
