If Hollywood has the answer why aren't more actors in the true political arena? Pay cut? Why don't they give up their lavish lifestyles and donate their monies and entitlements for the people they supposedly speak for? And why the heck do Americans care how they live, who they marry, and what they do?

Envy. The liberal media glorifies all the fools for the wanna-bes. I for could care less whether the "pig-patrol" of Paris, Britney, and Lindsay wears underwear or the political pearls of wisdom spouted by the likes of an Alick Baldwin or Micheal More!

We live in an entertainment based society. Our largest percentage of personal spending is for entertainment. Our children are conditioned to believe that what is portrayed by Hollywood is what they should live like.So when those they model their lives after speak their words are accepted as TRUTH.That their words are only surface glitter means nothing as the surface is now all that matters.
This attitude and direction of culture makes it nearly impossible to convince the American public that real threats exist. If the threat is more than three feet away or requires more than a shallow response it does not exist.

they have critiques purely like all of us do. purely with the aid of fact they have a communicate board with the aid of fact they have some tiny little bit of repute does not make their critiques have to any extent further advantage than the guy on the food market, the checkout women on the Piggly Wiggly or Mr. Ed. the only 2 issues they have is get entry to to the media and money. And, like certainly one of those great form of polititians, they have 0 concept what the in many situations occurring American issues or stories. They lead a sheltered, cloistered existence surrounded by confident adult males. I say the hell with the coolest deal of them.

Celebrities' opinions hold no more weight than others' ... however, they have a platform from which to make their opinions known.

There are thousands and thousands of people who make their political opinions known on the internet - and on sites like yahoo Answers. I seriously doubt that any of them would object to a platform from which they could reach a wider audience.

I don't believe that the reasons they have venues to speak out about politics is the same issue as Americans fascination with their personal lives.

I, for one, can go the rest of my life without ever seeing another photo of Britney Spears without her panties.

Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwartneggar, Clint Eastwood, Sony Bono, just to name a few, were Hollywood elites before they went into politics. Are you criticizing them?

The opinion they have of themselves is much higher than those who think on a daily basis. They have access to a very large audience and take advantage of it. I put no more faith in their opinions than I do any other entertainer. Example...that Ahole Danny DeVito. I'll never view him in the same light again after the way he made a fool of himself publicly. Not because I disagree with him, but because of the very personal manner in which he disrespected the office of the President. I didn't like it when former President Clinton was holding office and don't like it now.

They need to STFU and do what they are paid to do and not take advantage of their situation to push their opinion on a larger scale than any of the rest of us.

they dont really have the answers, they have the same misinformed opinions as the rest of us, only they'll show leo dicaprio making some vague comment about global warming on the news over your fat bald neighbor because he is handsome. trust me, the last thing america wants or needs is a sean penn in public office.
i'm guessing you are asking this question about americans caring about celebrities from an outside perspective. its quite similar to how the brits care about the royals, who in my understanding are less politically involved than many american celebrities.

They only hold weight if people allow them to. I don't and many others don't. Blame the Media for escalating celebrity worship to ridiculous proportions.
