use pads. if you are a virgin, it probably means your hymen is intact. don't use tampons, just pads. and please don't have sex just to break the hymen!

It hurt the first time for me, too. Here are a few things to try:
-Use the smallest tampon you can find. Yes, you'll go through them more quickly, but it will be much more comfortable. After you get used to it, you can increase the size as needed.
-Use tampons only on days when your period is the heaviest. The extra menstrual fluid will make it easier to insert and remove. Again, after you get used to it, you can use them more often.
-Make sure the tampon is deep enough inside of you. There are many more nerve endings around the opening to the vagina rather than inside of it. You should have to insert your finger into your vagina in order to feel it.
-Keep practicing. It is common for tampons to break hymens (this does not mean you're not a virgin anymore), which is rather painful. Try again in a day or two.

A) Buy a smaller size tampon.

B) Use pads instead of tampons.

C) Here's a stupid question, but are you on your cycle when you are trying to insert the tampon? You should not try to use them if you are just spotting, you need to be fully into your period when you use tampons.

If you are a virgin it would really be easier to use pads instead. If not the most important thing to do is relax. Try squating or putting one leg on the toilet seat and gently and slowly put it in. Once you do it a few times you will be able to do it without it bothering you. MAke sure you also have the right size for you, if you are too tight try one a little smaller or then again, use pads then too.

I wasn't able to use tampons until after I lost my virginity. I don't know if I was trying to put it in the wrong place (!), or put it in at the wrong angle, or if it was my hymen, but it hurt for me, too.
You may just have to put up with pads for a while longer, hon. And like one of the other girls said in her answer, please don't go and lose your virginity just so you can wear a tampon.
Good luck, sweetheart, and Merry Christmas.

do not put vasaline on! if it hurts it means its at the wrong angle. its more comfortable if you are sitting on the toilet then you position the tampon on the egde of your hole and guide it in. it gets easier

You may have been doing something wrong...or maybe your hymen broke. Read the directions again.

Put some vasaline on it next time, and relax while putting it in.
