It looks like your son sweats excessively, which increases the chances of body odor. There's a procedure for reducing the number of sweat glands from your dermatologist or try using a heavy duty deodorant, like Old Spice; my brother swears on that!

Some boys are just naturally musky.

Antipesrpirant (not just a deoderant, there is a difference), and body deoderant body spray can help (such as tag). A deoderant body wash (like old spice) can also do the trick, as well as a strong mens shampoo (a dandruff shampoo is extra helpful for smelly men)

Also, you might consider sitting him down and running him through his personal hygene practices. While a fourteen year old might go into the bathroom and turn on the shower and get wet, it doesnt mean he's paying attention to clean his more delicate areas, or to wash his body properly. This is usually a huge factor in why they smell so bad.

:)

Usually the worst of it will fade when he reaches adulthood and his hormones level out. Until then, teach him to stay clean, and get him products that are designed to control body oder.

I think everyone has great suggestions, however try this first...make sure your son is showering properly. I know it sounds silly, but some people only rub soap over themselves and this does nothing....he needs to use a washcloth or other "scrubbing" sponge to exfoliate all of the dead skin cells that trap in the odor. This is especially important in areas where you sweat--such as underarms. If he is overweight, this could be a factor too--you need to make sure he is scrubbing everywhere. Otherwise, try powders after showering as well as deoderants. And make sure he puts on clean clothing afterwards--some teenagers like to throw clothes on that they have already worn.

my son did too when he was 14, it all has to do with hormones. Showering once or even twice a day should be enough. buy some deodorant or some cologne. Just make sure he doesn't use to much! If the odor persists consult his pediatrician he might have an overactive sweat gland. Good Luck!

o.k. simple
Mine does too...and is 14, some smell more than others.
This is what I do...you have to follow this, until things get better...o.k.
1...I change his sheets every day.

2. Ask him to change his t-shirt twice a day

3. Buy him a very expensive deodorant..like something nice...

4. Make sure you have a really good soap..in bathroom.

5.a very good shampoo...and if he says he's doesn't want to wash his hair every day...do what I do sit him down, and I hand wash his hair with shampoo....and use massage...they love that.
It just helps them, plus hair is one huge problem with body odor.
I use the shampoo on dry hair, then I wash it off for him.

6.Make sure you wash his clothes all the time...that he must not wear same clothes more than 12 hrs straight.

7.Give him plenty of time..in the bathroom to wash, like 15mins at least.

8. See what he is eating...big time....some foods are no good.

9.Make sure his bowels are normal....

10.No fizzy drinks like soda...or not much...juice or water.

The sheet washing is essential, and spay his shoes each nigh with shoe spray.....

Its a hard time for them at 14-15-16 etc...

We just have to help, all we can.......if in the end he still smells.get to the doctor!....have a great Christmas...guys.

Get him some anti-bacterial bar soap... maybe dial. And make sure that he is putting on deoderant. Body odor happens when bacteria on the body mixes with natural bodily fluids... sweat, etc. If this doesn't help then take him to the doctor... he could have some type of infection in his body that could cause the odor or he may need to change his diet.

Oder? What kind of smell are you referring to?
Our body (skin) gets its own characteristic smell, as like as you'd have. He is a boy and so the first bad smell could come from his feet, while the beginning of the sexual development (hormones) will remain a particular "sexual smell" in his underwear. Being young I suppose he is hyperactive and animated therefore, as others boys, he will be perspirating continuously. Sometimes, just are shoes and clothes to smell!

First, see what the doctor says. It could be a sign of a bigger problem.
I would suggest that he drink more water. 6 - 8 glasses a day. That might serve to dilute whatever is making him smell bad. Also take a look at diet. An unhealthy or unbalanced diet could be the cause.
