im trying to reconnect our old wireless hub, a belkin adsl modem with a wireless g router, and when i plug it back in, the lights turn on but none of them turn off and its does not connect. i have tried leaving it for a while but nothing, anyone got some ideas?

the bt hub is the new one they are acvertising, weve had it a few days but it drops its wireless connection every few minutes. it is also connected to the main pc by a lan cable.

when you mention that the btsoftware has over ridden the belkin, is there a way to stop this?

this sounds like its either the filter or the actual broadband line, you should get 2 filters with your homw hub(the first one i got never worked properly) so try using a diffeent filter
then check the phone box to router cable and the router to p.c cable, wether its a usb or a ethernet check it by using a different cable
the lights that should be on on the home hub is broadband, wireless, data, internet,
when you first turn on the bt home hub the lights will come on in turn and after 2 minurtes all lights should be on,however i have heard that some home hubs have been found to be defective,so you may have had one of these
ask your i.s.p(internet service provider)to do a line check and also do a ping test...go to start>run>then type cmd>return and in the command prompt type...ping www.bbc.co.uk > return.......you will then receive four packets of data from the bbc website(it can be any website),you wil get a result in milli-seconds,any result under 50 m/seconds is ok,over 100 is not acceptibal, and under 20m/seconds is good
note; if you are using a ethernet cable connection there is no need to install any drivers to use the internet, drivers are only needed when using a usb connection
in my experience with bt,their best router modem is the voyager series,i never had any problems with my voyager 205
however i seriously reckon its a telephone socket to router problemso this shoud be your first check
good luck mate

Make sure that you have your modem plugged into the WAN port on your router, I have never heard of a wireless hub before, are you talking about an access point? IF there is a port on the back of your "wireless hub" or multiple ports, you need to use a wired port on the back of your router and connect it to the WAN port in the back of your "wireless hub".. Make sure DHCP is enabled if you use a dynamic ip address on the router. Also make sure in the tcp/ip properties for each one of your PC's that auto obtain IP is enabled. Try and ping your router if it works then you have a configuration error or its just not getting that signal from your modem. If you cant its the other way around and you dont have your router/pcs set up right, physically and/or logically.

I use the same but wired. I don't like the thought of signals pinging around the house, also the hub is right next to my pc anyway. Have found the below link from BT about checking wireless connectivity, perhaps you can uncheck from there. Good luck.

If the one from BT is a voyager 2091 wireless router it is very easy to use you just put the cd in that comes with it and it talks you through it

the bt home hub will need the password - see back of hub - put on each computer due to its encryption it wont connect without it.Try the hub again its great stuff. The settings have been changed by the hub software disc i expect so you will have to reconfigure the computer
