I agree with your point. I live in an neighbourhood where the corner store is a 5 minute walk away and everybody with a vehicle drives there...what a waste.

Well since most of the USA oil imported is from Venezuela I dont think that those folks driving those big ol' trucks have too much to say to Iran.

Yes OPEC drives the train on the price per barrel for oil but the USA gets a majority of its oil from other locations. Only a small percentage (14%) comes from the Middle east.

I wil agree with you though that it is sensless to go to the store just for a loaf of bread. But in all reality People are going to buy and drive what they want. If that wasn't the case then the Government would limit the Auto manufactors on how many vehicles they could produce and sell that were not fuel eficient.

You do realize that it is the big oil companies here that are jacking the sh*t out of the prices right? I mean look at all the oil platforms in the Gulf Of Mexico, and the Alaskan pipeline.
Which we do not get any of the oil from because its all sold to Japan and other places. They say that creating each summer blend (33 of them last spring) is so costly that they had to jack the prices. Although the Arabs have been gangsterous as of late with the price of a barrel. You can blame that back to big oil money here. ie. Bush and Cheney and all the cretens that are here enjoying blasting it to the U.S. people for profit. So I can not whole heartedly agree with you on this one either. Especially when diesel is a by product of the gas distilation process and is higher priced than gas.

You ignore a sad reality in today's America. The rate of traffic fatalities continues at a mind-boggling rate, and a great many people are perfectly willing to trade the economy of a smaller, and therefore more fuel-efficient, vehicle for the relative safety of a bigger one. When a traffic accident in a friggin' Wal-mart parking lot can total both vehicles and put both drivers on life support, you better believe I want my wife in a big, sturdy vehicle when she has to go there. Look, you and I can be the safest drivers on the road, but we can't drive the other dude's vehicle at the same time. We're at the mercy of every drunk, every jerk, every dingbat who thinks he's so blasted important he has to yak on his cell phone while driving or air-headed broad who decides to slather on makeup while driving. What else would you, realistically, have us do?

I don't mind people driving trucks. It's a personal preference. What annoys me is when they drive a big truck they don't use to its potential and then complain about gas prices. People tried to tell me to buy a truck when I was shopping for a car, but my Corolla is all I need.

Sounds like you have a problem with women and people's personal preference of what they chose to drive. This is still America and people have the freedom of choosing which vehicle they wish to drive and chosing what house they wish to live in.But I guess you are one of those people that want to also police what we eat and protect us from ourselves.Sorry that it is against your grain, but if something so petty bothers you, maybe anger management classes might help.
