? I assume the ME laptop boots up into ME and can 'see' the USB stick OK ?

So what's the problem copying from usb stick to Laptop hard drive and then running XP install from the hard drive ?

NB. You can't run the same License on 2 laptops = it's OK if you are moving from an old laptop (which you will never use again) to the new one - when you connect to MS for Updates, MS checks both your License code and the PC ID & will not be happy if it finds same Licence on 2 machines.
