I see you`ve been watching some old Seinfeld re-runs again, huh buddy?
Frank Costanza, George`s dad, came up with "Festivus" when George was still a child as a mark of protest against the westernized commercialism of Christmas & the birth of Christ.
Or so the story goes...
P.S. George has been embarrassed about it ever since even though Kramer thought it was a great idea and should be commemorated once again and even suggests it to Frank, against George`s wishes, of course! And in true burlesque form, Frank & Kramer proceed to revive the whole "Festivus" idea, for old times` sake, once again...

festivus rocks! I think it's totally cool that you can buy a "festivus" pole. I'm not good at the feats of strength, though.

It isn't new at all. Frank Costanza (Jerry Stiller) dreamed it up on an episode of Seinfeld about 10 years ago.
