Well everyone knows that cats are very curious creatures and poke their nose everywhere which can cause trouble.
The saying or phrase was first attested in the USA in 1909. It is one of the fairly new sayings and it first appearance in writing was in a 1921-1922 play by Euene ONeill. A variation is 'Curiosity killed the cat: satisfaction brought him back.'"
Elsewhere , it is stated that the phrase 'curiosity killed the cat' is actually a spin-off of an old saying that really had nothing at all to do with the cat's natural sleuthing abilities! In the 16th century, there was a saying, "care kills a cat". This statement meant that cats seemed to be very cautious, careful and worrisome creatures, and too much anxiety can be bad for one's health, even to the point of sending one to an early grave. A cat, then, could be killed by excessive "care" as indeed could a human. Over the years, the meaning of the word "care" changed, and the word "curiosity" was substituted in the phrase, intending to explain that this was a trait that got both people and cats into trouble sometimes!

well. the meaning is quite obvious, but some belive its actual origin of the exact phraseto have to do with, Schrödingers Cat, the quantum physics experiment in which a cat is in a superposition where it can either be dead or alive in a box where there is a 50/50 chance of a poisonous gas going off and killing the cat. We dont know until we look to see the cat and establish wether the cat is dead or alive, which means that OUR curiosity kills the cat

The saying originally was "care kills a cat," and began in the 16th century. "Care" was a warning that worry is bad for your health and can lead to an early grave; the phrase was a recognition that cats seem to be very cautious and careful. Over time, the word "care" evolved into "curiosity."

It came from the Bible, when all Hell fell on Babylon, anyone who looks turns into salt. The main character in the story tried to look at the place and turned into salt. She was warned of what will happen to her if she looks back but her curiosity killed her
