All numbers lster are local and in whichever city you are these will be connected to your local emergencies:

100 - PCR i.e. Police Control Room where ever you are i.e. local PCR.

101 - Fire Depeartment

102 - Ambulance/Emergency can also be called if 100 is not available.

All these numbers can be called from a cell even without area code. Besides these numbers there is a global Emergency number that can be dialled from your mobile. that is :

112 - Global emergency number.

This number, when dialled routes your call to your local PCR/Emergency regadless wherever you are and if you are roaming and dont have balance then also it works and even on weakest signal. And the catch is this number can be dialled even if your phone/keypad is locked. just dial this number and connect. This number is the standard SOS/Emergency number world wide for mobiles.

A state of emergency in India refers to a period of governance under an altered constitutional setup that can be proclaimed by the President of India, when he/she perceives grave threats to the nation from internal and external sources or from financial situations of crisis. Under the advice of the cabinet of ministers and using the powers vested in him/her largely by Part XVIII of the Constitution of India, the President can overrule many provisions of the constitution, which guarantee fundamental rights to the citizens of India and acts governing devolution of powers to the states which form the federation. In the history of independent India, there were three periods during which a state of emergency was deemed to have existed.

Between 26 October 1962 to 10 January 1968 during the India-China war. ("the security of India" - declared as eing "threatened by external aggression") Between 3 December 1971 to ? originally proclaimed during the Indo Pakistan war, and later extended along with the third proclamation. ("the security of India" - declared as being "threatened by external aggression")
Between 26 June 1975 to 21 March 1977 under controversial circumstances of political instability under the Indira Gandhi's prime ministership ("the security of India" - declared as being "threatened by internal disturbances").
