It's a character trait of our species to think of our existence this way and as you have just pointed out it can bog us down.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the other animals that live along side us on this planet think about their existence in this way.

Never the less we do seem to learn things about ourselves by reviewing our experiences and trying to project what will happen next.

Perhaps its how we react to events, in the extreme or not that needs examination.

Maybe this will help us to experience the present with more clarity.

It may be because it's easier and less stressful to think of what happened, because it's over. And to have fear of what might happen in the future. Than to deal with what is happening now. Some peoples minds just can't handle the stress. Peace of mind is the answer I have for you. Peace of mind. We would go crazy if we stayed in the moment all of the time.

A lack of reliable education about the past and anxiety about the future keep a focus in those areas & not on the here & now. Various people try to accept a version of the past and of the future that suits theirpersonal needs to diminish their fears.

We ignore the present because of follwings:

1. Human wants are unlimited even extended beyond infinite.
2. We look past as a good reference for present, but not involved in present. we wish to remind past only.
3. We visualise Future to be even better than past, but we overlook present.
4. We are always looking present as danger like past and we forget the present.
5. Future will be hopefully exciting. So we are least involed in present.

CONCLUSION: WHENEVER WE ARE IN PRESENT, NORMALLY WE RELY ON EITHER PAST OR FUTURE ONLY. HENCE WE IGNORE PRESENT.

well,in my opinion, people have this tendency to have regrets.
we cant fully let go of the past and our wrongs.we cling on more to the future as we have ths belief that we can make things go our way.

but we often neglect 'now' as u said.the events occuring in our lives are all related whether past, present and future.we cant live without these.

Ah, be caredul. The usual order is

Something must be done
This is something
We must do it now.

By definition, the present is transient. the present when I started typing this is now history.
