Nope, unless you want to collect them on a book shelf.

Hardcovers are better than paperbacks if you plan to use or read the book repeatedly. A hardcover can last longer because it doesn't get wrinkled easily. The spine of a hardcover book is thicker than that of a paperback so the book won't tear so much if you open the book widely. On a hardcover there is a dust jacket that serves as the books protection. Also an advantage is the huge font of hardcover books for easier reading.

I think that the difference would be personal preference. I, myself, prefer to have hardcovers than paperbacks for books like textbooks, cookbooks and other books that I will refer to often. I like to have paperbacks for novels and literature as they are easier to carry with me, and if I fall asleep with a paperback on my bed I don't necessarily have sharp points poking me :) I recently took two classes that required large paperback textbooks, and frankly the books ended up getting trashed, the corners frayed and the back cover creased, so for durability go with Hardcovers.
Of course if you're a book collector, then you'll want the hardcovers just for the aesthetics of the library.

A book printed in hardcover is more durable than is a paperback.
In addition, if, like myself, you have problems holding a book, or bending your neck and/or back to read, then you will need to use some type of bookholder as assistance. Paperbacks don't take well to such treatment.
If you're talking about the quality of content, then please rememeber that few books are published only in paperback.

I think the size is more comfortable to read - paperbacks are two small to use both hands - but holding it with one cramps the hand. Also the typeset is easier to read.
Most importantly, LOL, for a hot new book that you're dying to read, waiting for the paperback to come out just takes too long!

Hardcovers are made with higher quality paper, and are put together much better, than paperbacks. That way, even with repeated readings, hardcovers will hold together much longer.

Hardcovers are more durable. Paperbacks are less expensive. Which of these two criteria is more important to you will determine which is better for you.

Its a matter of choice, I beleive the hard cover will last a lot longer so if you plan to keep the book it's a good choice. I like hard covers simply because the print is a bit bigger and it is more enjoyable to read.
