No, removing the 2nd drive would not help.

I would run the Check Now button in the TOOLs section of each drive's PROPERTIES.

Then I would run DEFRAG.

Use Disk Cleanup and delete all of the junk.

I would suspect Spyware. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

This double whammy will help keep you safe and running faster.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Yes.The speed depends upon the RAM capacity and combatability with the drives. Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html

You have 384 of RAM and are you running WIN XP? If you are and doing much of anything you do not have enough RAM --- Check your available RAM in System resources and if it is below 300 you need more..... your OS and protection software can easily use 200 or more before you do anything.... that said if your HDs are set up right should not be the problem ---

Run antivirus and antispyware equipment on it to verify you dont have something bogging it down. Then run a registry cleanser. Then see in case you could improve the quantity of ram in it. If that doesnt do something for you, it's time to enhance.
