Try disabling your virus wear during game play. I have a couple of games that don't run worth a crap unless it's disabled.

Yes. Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html

Potentialy. I used to run mcafee years ago and it had settings in it to test any file that was opened. Clearly virus scanning on this level will seriously f*ck your pc. So if your anti-virus scanner has these setting you should switch them off, then run a virus scan on the whole pc, say once a week.

If the anti virus programe is searching for virus's then this would slow it down, schedule it to scan at 2am or something similar.

All anti-virus applications will make computing gadget gradual. because of the fact to get authentic time protection, it has to run consistently in history. It has to verify all your computing gadget events. so it is going to use memory & processor to do all those events. So needless to say antivirus will make your computing gadget gradual.

If the internet is not required for the game then disconnect it
and disable your AV software.
Go to task manager and shut down any applications and processes that you do not require.
This should increase the game speed.
