I've got this friend from high school, he dropped out in 10th grade actually and he sporadically contacts me to catch up. I want to be nice and I'm not an elitist or anythign but he's kind of an idiot. We have nothing in common. The conversations he wants to have are just so basic and/or juvenile. Example: I go to school in KY now and he says "isn't that where all the incest is, huh huh", like Beavis & Butthead or something (who I love ironically) or he wants to spend time rehashing the **** we did and people we knew when we were 16. Anyway, do I give this guy the kiss off or keep him in my life for comic relief? He's a good guy I think, in fact he's my only buddy from high school who tries to keep in touch. What do you think?

He talks like he has less than a 10th grade education. He'd be good for entertainment only. He's not capable of holding a decent and/or intelligent conversation. He'd make a better aquaintance than he would a friend.

well lets see, it takes all kinds to make the world go round, and life would be kind of dull with out him, but you seem embarrassed to be around him and he is just trying to fit in with you and has maintain contact from highschool,
i think you have a really good friend you cannot appreciate because he turns you the wrong way or drums up bad past relationships,
i think he should be the one deciding if your worth while keeping

If he doesn't really contact you that much don't worry about it and just be nice to him. Maybe he feels you're a good friend from high school and that he can talk to you--maybe through some good act of kindness you can turn him around a bit.

I'm with Elizabeth O on this one , he is just a decent guy keeping in touch who you say you hardly see anyway. Maybe you should just try being nice and enjoying his company. And maybe he should be reconsidering if you are worth keeping in touch with

maybe you should just relax and have a laugh with him. Stop thinking your better than him. And if he's the only one still in contact with you from school what does that say about you. You should count yourself lucky that someone wants to talk to you when your that snobby
