The Melbourne Cup. Emirates (airlines) had the most extravagant marquee I have ever seen. They had a replica of Michaelangelo's artwork on the roof, amazing.

That mid 90's movie, Stay Tuned with John Ritter and Jeffery Jones. It was a flick about a couple (the Knables) getting stuck in tv land, only it's hell. During one scene in the movie (set in a French Revolution movie) the guy was referred to as "The Marquis de Knables" I know it's not the same word, but it's the first thing I thought of.
