It's just hard to get at. You'll need a couple of six inch spanners and turn off the furnace, open the front. You'll see a front panel, open it. Get down with a light and look in the panel, you'll see the tube, about a 3/32 that's about 12 to 18 inches long. Take the new thermocouple and match it up, make sure it's the same all the way around and, just as long.
Disconnect the end closest to you, a small nut then the end that go's to the pilot, careful to note how far it is from the flame area, usually about half way down the tube end. Now be careful how it comes out of the holder on the furnace, sometimes they come out hard, you might have to jiggle them some.

Take the new one and put it in the same way, careful not to bend the tube and make sure all the nuts are snugged up tight. The end is held tight and it's about the same as far as being in the flame. You can tell by the old done. Make sure everything is on and tight seal it up, turn it all on and try it. It'll take an extra minute being cold.

First turn off the pilot valve. It 's a small valve on or near your your main gas valve in the furnace. If you can't find it just turn off the main gas valve. You'll need a couple of small wrenches or a pair of pliers and possibly a screwdriver. Assuming you know where the thermocouple is, unscrew it at the gas valve and remove it. Be careful not to kink the line on the new one, install it in the same way the old one was. Make sure that it comes in contact with the pillot flame. If not, you have to move it or bend it until it does. Take your time and don't be afraid. It's about a 15 min job.

Closed the main valve of gas, switch off the stove then open existing thermocouple and installed new thermocouple. Ensure the connection was properly.
You might test leak on connection by using soap bubbling.

If you do not install it correctly the gas valve will not let gas through and the pilot will not burn. just make shure that you turn off the electric to the unit before you go into it if it has electric to it.

Turn off the gas first... Maybe you should let an experienced heating & air person do the install if you are not comfortable.

same way the old one comes out. only your replacement should have a lil adapter to me installing eaiser.. and locks the new one in.. alot of the replacements are smaller.different and you might have to use the assortment of hardware that comes with it... mostly the piece that has the lil fingers bent out to lock it into the old hole.. its one of the simple things on a furnace.. dont worry about blowing up.. the horror stories you hear never have the facts with it.
