Thought I would post this here, as there is at least an outside chance that some movie genius will recognize the film from my description.
It's about a boy who turns out to be a wizard. I think his name's Harry, and he's got short brown hair and glasses. He gets some mail from a wizard and gets invited to go to a special school for witches, called Hog-something. Hoggits, I think. There's also a giant with a beard. He might be called Hoggit, too.
Any ideas? Even if it's just a guess?

The name of the man with the big Bears is "Hagrid"
There will be two friends for him called "Hermoine" a girl and "Wesley" a boy. They play a wizrd chess at the end of the movie.

Just like this movie about this bus that if it fell below the speed of 50 mph, it would blow up, so the driver had to speed through the streets of LA to get to a place where they could speed around until they could figure out a way to stop speeding
