An interesting thing to try ONCE is visit your city's central fish market. In the early morning, all the catch has been brought in overnight and the auctions are going on (maybe even mostly done by 6AM) Very busy, try not to get run over by a forklift.
You can usually see some very weird species wriggling around. There's probably also a sushi restaurant or two with the FRESHEST sushi you've ever eaten!
I went to Tsukiji in Tokyo, I assume there's a similar one in Okayama, maybe focused on Seto Inland Sea fishing?
